The above commendation reads as follows :
This man helped Corporal BISHOP capture a German pillbox and over twenty prisoners. He showed great bravery and set a fine example to the others. Corporal Bishop and this man held up a counter attack until all their ammunition was used and after being taken prisoners led the Germans back into our own lines.
I stongly recommend this man.
